So often, people comment on the fact that I’m a Krav Maga and Martial Arts instructor who carries a firearm nearly everywhere I go. Things like, “Don’t you think you’re overdoing it,” or “Doesn’t your Krav work?” get said all the time. The truth is that someone who is serious about defending themselves and their loved ones will take every precaution to do so. This includes carrying weapons on them or in their vehicle. This also means having weapons in their home. I may sound like a fanatical person, but the truth is that I’m a prepared person.
The question is, “Is it better to have it and not need it or not have it and need it?” The answer to that question in every other part of your life is that it is absolutely better to have it and not need it! I carry and I tell all of my students to carry. The truth is that people need to own weapons and train with them just as often as they train in their Krav Maga. I will tell people all day, every day, that they need Krav Maga above all, but the truth is that you need to be prepared to answer the situation that comes with the appropriate level of force. Sometimes situations call for a little more than “Krav Maga”. At FearLess Nation, we train in multiple styles, two of which being Krav Maga and Kali. Kali is the Filipino system for knife and stick fighting. As a result, I walk around with my sidearm and a blade at all times. In my vehicle, I carry my sidearm, a blade in each door, and an expandable baton under my seat. I am, by no means, saying that everyone should walk or drive around with so many weapons, but I am saying that everyone needs to be prepared to respond to the threat with the level of force necessary! Paint this picture in your mind: You’re walking around with your loved one and a large mob of people approach and surround you both. Will your MMA training or your Krav Maga not only get you out, but your loved one? There’s certainly a chance, but the odds are not in your favor for something like that. However, if one, or both, of you carried, you would have a much higher chance of survival! Having a weapon with you immediately, dramatically increases your chances for survival – provided that you’re trained with the weapon and understand how to properly use it. Arm yourselves, America! There’s a war coming, and you need to be prepared for it!
